Comparative laser study of Nd:KGW and Nd:YAG near 1.3 μm

A comparative study of Nd:KGW and Nd:YAG laser crystals pumped by flashlamp has been conducted near 1.3 μm with output energy up to 1 J and at a repetition rate up to 50 Hz. An average power of 23 W for KGW in free-running mode was achieved with a total efficiency better than 2.8 % for the Nd:KGW and 1.8 % for the Nd:YAG.
MCNP5 modelling of HPGe detectors for efficiency evaluation in gamma-ray spectrometry

A modelling of HPGe detectors was performed through simulation with the MCNP5 Monte Carlo code. The simulation results concerning the values of the main physical parameters of the detector are in most cases different from those provided by the manufacturer. The use of “single-line” sources allows us to suitably modify the parameter values used in the detector model. For a detector model, the simulation assesses the distribution of photopeak and total efficiency for point sources, whereas for extended sources a control volume approach allows us to determine elementary efficiency behaviours. Large-Scale Synthesis of Mammalian Gonadoliberin without protection of side-chain functions

A simple, Large-scale preparation of mammalian gonadoliberin was elaborated using classical solution methods without protecting side-chain functions. At the final stage, a hexapeptide segment was condensed with the corresponding tetrapeptide and the obtained decapeptide was purified by a single chromatographic procedure on silica gel. The total efficiency of the whole synthesis and the purity of the product amounted to 34% and 98.3%, respectively.
Calibration of a small anode germanium well detector

SAGe kolokiteen kalibroinnit suoritettiin kolmelle näytegeometrialle. Kaksi geometrioista oli sylinterin muotoisia purkkeja, jotka mitattiin ilmaisimen päällä ja yksi koeputki, joka mitattiin kolon sisällä. Piikkitehokkuuskalibrointi tehtiin NPL:sta tilattujen sertifioitujen näytteiden avulla. Yksinuklidinäytteitä valmistettiin radioaktiivisista liuoksista totaalitehokkuuskalibrointia varten. Totaalitehokkuuskäyrä saatiin simuloimalla totaalitehokkuudet MCNP:llä ja sovittamalla malli vastaamaan kokeellisia tuloksia. Kalibraatiot tehtiin energiavälille 30 keV–1.9 MeV.
